Dillon Bartram

Software engineer in public service. I build the systems that keep a county animal shelter running — dependable, humane software for the people and animals closest to home.

Selected work

Topology, optimized

The heart of fenics-pipeline: tell the solver where a part is loaded and where it's bolted down, and a FEniCS finite-element solve plus density optimization carves away everything that isn't carrying load. Scroll, and the part optimizes as you pass — or grab the slider to scrub convergence by hand.

Input · solid 10 kN fixed MASS 100% · MESHED
Output · optimized STL · READY TO SLICE

Public service turned out to be the best product brief I've ever had — real people, real animals, real stakes. I'm proud to build for it.

I'm a Colorado native with a lifelong pull toward technology. I finished my CS degree at MSU Denver in December 2020 — a lockdown graduation — and was laid off into the strangest job market in memory. A workforce case manager saw a path for me when the market didn't, and helped me land a helpdesk role in county government. I've never forgotten what one good public servant can do; it's a large part of why I became one.

Two years on the helpdesk earned me a move to application development, and I've been there since — building the systems behind the county animal shelter and working directly with the Assessor's office in C#, Python, and T-SQL. Off the clock: homelab and media archival, 3D printing, local AI and its ethics, generative design and topology optimization, and cars.
